The History of Clark Forklifts
Clark Equipment Company was founded in 1917, creating the first “Tructractor” in Buchanan, Michigan. The “Tructractor” was the world’s first internal combustion powered vehicle of its kind. The emerging organization would follow up by manufacturing seventy-five models by the end of 1919. Over the next twenty-five years, Clark would innovate and invent more cutting-edge products, such as the Carloader and Utilitruck. Clark would also produce another world-first: The Tructier, the world’s first internal combustion powered forklift which utilized hydraulic technology.
One-Millionth Clark Vehicle
In 1976, as America celebrated its bicentennial, Clark would rejoice in producing their 500,000th truck. In 1990, the equipment vehicle giant would continue on to set the example, once again. The first ever “Employer's Guide to Material Handling Safety” would be delivered with each product ordered from vendors and customers everywhere. Today, Clark has expanded world-wide and opened up a European production plant in 2004, and South American and Asian annexes in 2006.
While expanding its global reach, Clark rejoiced in constructing its one millionth vehicle in 2001. To this day, this dynamic material handling company maintains its position as a global leader in production and extraordinary service.
